"It was a very good race, fought. I had to make a recovery test after receiving a touch of Felipe (Massa) and dropped to third, but worth every effort. It was my second victory here in batteries in the Challenge. Despite being a celebration, winning here has special meaning for me. "Celebrated the Bombril team pilot, which won 25 points with the victory.

Otherwise, we'll just move in calibration, because of the higher temperature during the day. In the race, the strategy will use your head and add as many points as possible to try the title, "he added.

After the victory on Saturday, di Grassi is the champion in Florianopolis
Pilot left with broken kart on Sunday, but performance on Saturday secured title
It seemed that the coveted title of International Challenge of the Stars would be postponed again. After an important victory in the race that opened the sixth edition of the 2010 International Challenge of the Stars, on Saturday night (18), the Arena Sapiens Kartodrome, Florianópolis (SC), the pilot Lucas di Grassi found himself obliged to leave the decisive step on Sunday morning (19).

The pilot of the Virgin Racing F1 team - who competed in the Challenge team Dafra / Bombril / TNT / Itaipava / Linea sweetener, with partnership of Peter Pan, Kid Tire, Powerball, Artmix, Schioppa, and Sorocred Eurobike - abandoned the race shortly on the fourth lap. The reason was the breakdown of engine exhaust, after which the rear of the kart, No 9, di Grassi was settled in full by Antonio Pizzonia, an attempt to overtake the Amazonas unfortunate pilot.

With the victory in the disputed opening stage, di Grassi started eighth in the final, as required by regulation, which inverts the top eight of the first test for the starting order of the second. Shortly after liftoff, the pilot of the kart Jovem Pan 100.9 / Dafra / TNT jumped to seventh and was in pursuit of fourth place when he took the hit. "Pizzonia took me out of the race trying to pass in a place where it was not possible. Ruined my race and with it," lamented di Grassi. Worse for him, he could have gone to the podium as well."

From there, what we saw was an intense fight for all positions, especially up front, where Rubens Barrichello, the Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari Vitor Meira and alternated in the lead. After nine overtakings, the Sao Paulo Figueiredo Bia, who started 11th, took the first position of Barrichello, earning his first victory in a stage of the competition. Felipe Giaffone was third.

When combining results from both tests, as required by regulation, di Grassi finished in front. During counting, Lucas got 25 for winning the first race and tied in the lead to Barrichello (who recorded an 8 and a 2nd place, respectively) Felipe Massa (2 and 11) and Bia Figueiredo (11th and 1st). Di Grassi became a champion for just recorded victory on Saturday - a result that in the tiebreaker criteria, is superior to the other competitors.

"It was a combination of chance and luck. Because of the abandonment things had been very difficult for me, but when it has to be someone taking is difficult. And finally, after a deputy and two third places, I finally won the title of the Challenge "celebrated the pilot team Dafra / Bombril / TNT / Itaipava / Linea sweetener, also supported by Peter Pan, Kid Tire, Powerball, Artmix , Schioppa, and Sorocred Eurobike. Lucas was referring to their results in the years 2008, 2007 and 2006, respectively, were always among the favorites and reached the second round vying for the title.
